      Amazing science performed at SLAC Brilliant people working at SLAC Associated with Stanford Good benefits

      Cons

      Difficult political climate effects funding for the Lab There is a lot of infighting/bickering, sometimes it seems like a 'turf war'. If people tried to play nice in the sandbox with each other we could get a whole lot more done Aging infrastructure Distrust in management

      Pros

      Great science and good environment for seasoned employees.

      Cons

      OLD school with no exposure to real world knowledge. Some of the management people are not fit to be in management positions. Most of the management people came to that position with years of employment only. Some of them don't even have a college degree! There is no encouragement or motivation from management to develop employee skills.

      I worked as a summer intern, had a very enjoyable time, with extremely supportive colleagues.

      Pros

      Working in a world-class facility with world class people, from my experience a very supportive and comfortable work environment, better physical work environment for me compared to other national labs as an intern

      Cons

      Intern benefits aren't that great compared to other labs, salary was also slightly lower than the competition for summer interns.
