Excellent training experience-long term outlook less rosy
Pros
Fixed step training program for technical people is excellent, if not slightly 'overdone'. Steep learning curve which can be hard-going at times but worthwhile in the long run. Opportunities and responsibilities for graduates and 'freshouts' provides a lot of scope for experience and exposure in various parts of industry. Respected company-looks good on CV. 'Potential' to get global experience, trasnfers to exotic places with competative international packages and moving between segments & functions is possible.
Cons
High management movement & turnover is policy-and not all management are to the same standard. Bit of a lottery which can impact the workforce dramatically. Although a technical career progression 'roadmap' is in place, in reality once the fixed step training is completed, individuals do not get enough time to focus on personal development. Revenue comes first. Recent 'crew change' within industry has impacted motivation and retention, being met with lots of words but little action. Renumeration still lagging behind operators for local staff. 'Paper' reasons to stay are not realised. A culture of 'I came here for the training'-many don't see a career in the company beyond G11/GFE.
