Schlumberger focusing quite good on the development of the employee. One of the best training system provided to their employees.

Pros

Fast opportunities to have high resposibility, crew management, career growth. Nice educational program with well defined steps, which could be followed dependent on the speed you choose and effort you put every day. Quite many different nationalities are presented in the field services.

Cons

Stressing job with undefined working schedule. Language barrier will keep you stressed until the last day, once even you perfectly know and fluently speak english, you co-workers and customers (who are changing frequently) may not and usually don't. Just impossible to have a family and work in the field.

Great pay.

Pros

The pay and benefits are excellent for freshly graduated engineers. The basic pay is much higher than the competitors for the same position. Field bonuses are lower than the main competitors, but the overall take-home is pretty hefty. The most bulky benefits are the special stock purchase plan for the employees, and the profit sharing plan.

Cons

Work to life balance is very dis-satisfactory. The number of field engineers hired is kept to a bare minimum compared to the number of field jobs. As a result, this increases the work load on the field engineers and keeps them busy around the year. Moreover, there is no rotation for International Mobile employees. The maximum number of days off plus vacations we get is 90, which is pretty low compared to the work intensity.
