      Pros

      Opportunity to earn good money with days off the Rigs to spend with family. As Oil is booming so are service company's like Schlumberger, so for the mid term the future is bright.

      Cons

      Many line managers were poor as a field hand and thus moved into the office. They now forget what life is like in the field and micro manage their numbers instead of being good with the people who are actually generating the revenue for the company.

      Pros

      Schluberger is a challenging, aggresive company. You learn a lot, you are pushed to the edge, you try to go the extra mile. In terms of learning an experience it is a fantastic place to work as a first job. You can change jobs and location every 2-3 years. A truly multicultural and multinational environment.

      Cons

      Sometimes it just becomes too much. Too much work, too much pressure, to little time for yourself. The focus is too much on short term profits, at the cost of life / work balance. The company is constantly loosing lots of tallented people who get better deals from oil companies.

      Pros

      Most employees are professional who tend to have a good work-life balance.

      Cons

      "who knows you" matters. Diversity cited as a reason for promotions that appear arbitrary. No accountability for decisions that affect the long term as management is too focussed on the short term.
