Cog in the wheel

Pros

Colleagues were experienced and absolutely some of the best minds in their field. SLR is full of talented people that care about their team members and the quality of their work output.

Cons

The company is perpetually understaffed in all departments. There's always too much work to complete. The culture is not "One Team," because it's about being billable and about how many things you can get done. You feel like a cog in the wheel of a company that is rapidly expanding even though new employees are leaving only after a few months or a year, and people who have worked at acquired companies for decades leave a year after being absorbed. It truly feels like you're on a sinking ship, working here. Benefits are so-so (the health insurance in particular is quite bad), and salary was less than what is industry standard.

They live their mission

Pros

They are focused on both the physical and mental health of employees. Very collaborative and supportive environment. New ideas are welcomed, and changes put in place to address them. Honestly one of the best places I have ever worked.

Cons

I suppose they could offer a bit more vacation. Currently 15 days to start but that increases to 20 after 5 years. Still great!
