On balance a very good place to work.

Experienced and sound leadership, including smooth transition to new CEO. Willing to make the tough decision to close an office to look out for greater good of the overall company. Management not overreacting to drop in commodity prices. Challenging technical work and a very nice office environment. Very competitive benefits package.

Cons

Growing company with new systems. Some staff not as adaptable as other to change in systems.

SM Energy is not perfect. The cons include, HR in general, lots of changes to the organization, bureaucracy beyond it size, increasing expectations

The company values are what attracted me. There are good opportunities. Upper Management continues to prove their words through action.

Cons

Every company has it's "issues"; however, the majority of people are just trying to do right. Middle Management still needs to learn that job performance should trump personalities (those you like more).
