Pros

Over the past ten-years, SM&A has offered a variety of opportunities and career growth. Having deployed to over 10 engagements, worked in sales, and at headquarters, one constant is interesting work, great people to work with who are passionate about their tradecraft, and an executive team that is committed to the success of the team.

Cons

The virtual nature of the organization can make it difficult to stay connected requiring the associate to be proactive about reaching out to their practice and leveraging the TOD App to get information about opportunities, news, and items of interest.

Pros

Once you have established a reputation with business development, you can have success working through SM&A. It is a positive thing to be able to decide if you want to take a open job or pass so you can have some time off.

Cons

I signed my hiring paperwork 6 months ago and I have yet to be placed anywhere. I can live with this if I didn't know that SM&A was still actively recruiting staff to perform the same work that I am waiting to do. The waiting is frustrating.

Great Place to Learn and Grow

Pros

Exposure to many different companies, systems, opportunities, and ideas. Consulting typically offers higher pay than direct hire to our clients. Management does what they can to ensure employees are happy Employee development is a serious consideration for Management Management also tries to recognize merit in employees - if you do a good job, you will be recognized.

Cons

Consulting is more risky and uncertain, you could get deployed anywhere Must be willing to travel Smaller firm - cannot leverage the same benefits that a larger company can
