Pros

Excellent hands on training program that includes daily access to partners with an emphasis on the importance of hard work, communication, being part of a team and developing your strengths Morning meeting highlighting the stocks in play with technical and fundamental analysis Great culture where the employees get along with one another and everyone is happy to answer questions and share their experiences Amazing state of the art technology that gives me an edge against my competitors in the marketplace Collaborative approach where 7 figure traders lead teams and help to mentor younger traders by sharing their trading ideas and talking through stocks they are trading in real time

Cons

Becoming a successful trader takes time. Myself included, people generally think that success will come quickly. This is not true. Becoming a consistently profitable trader is a process where the breakthrough often comes long after the hard work, dedication and long hours is put in. There is nothing that SMB can do to change that realization. However; I am sure many people will blame management for their lack of success. At the end of the day, there is nothing that either partner can do to change the fact that the majority of traders fail. The only con that I can think of is that there can be better communication with regards to locating shares of stock in order to get short when stocks are hard to borrow.

Pros

strong python scripting tools; generous with buying power for consistently profitable traders; new/developing traders "graduate to" a team headed by a senior trader, where there is opportunity to contribute to knowledge / strategy base and receive valuable mentorship in return; highly structured training program for brand new traders

Cons

skill development, especially with the python tools, requires lots of self-direction and stamina; quite modest risk (i.e. buying power, daily drawdown limit, etc) given to new traders, which means little earning potential, but that's chiefly because nearly all new traders initially lack the skills and knowledge base to trade profitably on the intraday timeframe; some "siloing" of knowledge / strategies among individual teams

Pros

comprehensive training program. access to large amount of capital up to $30,000,000 for successful traders. generous splits of up to 68% with performance bonuses. access to proprietary firm technology for discretionary and automated trading.

Cons

after year one 100% performance based. no base salary after initial draw during first 12 month. no access to European equities or futures currently.

Pros

--like minded young traders who will work hard with you --moved to Austin-based KTG from T3, which is a huge upgrade in broker dealers... better fees and technology --will learn how to scalp level II patterns... which is a double edged sword depending on what your personality as a trader is. i was a natural scalper so it was a + for me, i saw other traders who tried to imitiate and developed bad habits (harder to unlearn sh*t than to learn new things) when they were better off with a more conventional style

Cons

--50-50 split not worth it for a good trader... I get the biz of day trading, which is why I won't list "no gauranteed salary" as a con, but the split sucks and the technology+support does not make up for it, no matter how much they convince you otherwise --when i compare their "professional training program" to cheaper alternative education sites that a lot of retail traders use, i find it lacking... it's a sham to be selling this for $1000's of dollars when it hasn't been updated since 2009 most likely --best traders leave (like their former head trader GMan) --lack decent quant support in the NY branch (although you can contact people in Austin to help)

Pros

Learn from some top traders. Best technology in the business but its Kershner technology not SMB's technology.

Cons

Horrible training program. You spend time learning outdated strategies from videos and failed traders. Maybe you get lucky and befriend an older trader and then you learn to not listen to anything they"trained" you and to follow the profitable people.

Pros

Good environment the traders are hungry, and intelligent management is just bad.

Cons

The founders trade with 100 shares and act as though they are the greatest things ever. They only give buying power to traders who adopt their profit losing strategies. This company is more interested in selling training programs and subscriptions than they are at doing anything else. If you ask management how much their traders made on average, what percentage of their desk is profitable, how much did the founders make trading in the last 5 years then just laugh.

Pros

Where to begin? SMB Capital is probably the best place to begin any equity trading career. Coming in as a developing equity trader in their program, I can tell you the training and attention given to the new hires is unlike any other forum. Multiple developmental meeting every day, placed on a team with senior traders and mid level traders, many of whom making mid 7 figures per year but they are growing bigger as we speak. Exposure to many of the best trading strategies, both day trading and swing/longer term as well is arbitrage strategies. Access to the best trading psychologist in the game. Access to more capital than you could need/use. Access to some of the best technology on the street both on the execution side as well as automated/modeling and scripting side of things. Literally given all the tools and support anyone would ever need to be successful. Develop the right foundation, work hard, improve, and gain the trust of the managers who are there to help you scale up to your full potential, and there is no ceiling to what you can do here, complete freedom to pursue your own edge and ideas. SMB is growing year over year, and made a great decision to partner with KTG several years back. probably now the best prop firm on the street both performance wise and culture wise.

Cons

None I can speak of that aren’t related to trading in general. Trading is an extremely difficult game/profession for any individual at any firm. Those with drive, and a true genuine passion for trading will progress, while those not willing to put in the work or who don’t have this genuine passion will not be able to make a career from this. SMB does more than enough to train, develop, coach, and scale traders, so at the end of the day it’s really up to the individual.
