Pros

Beautiful walking campus. Great low-key place to work. You never have to take work home. Tuition benefit for staff is a great opportunity for staff children going into undergrad and continuing education for staff.

Cons

Parking is horrible and you must pay for it. A lot of petty office politics: Those that can, have a corporate job; those that can't, work at SMU. No career advancement if you are non-faculty. You will come into contact with tons of privileged individuals that expect you to cater to their every need.

Free tuition; short hours (~35 hours/wk)

Cons

Boring, mindless work; high drama environment; lots of stress over insubstantial issues; managers don't use skills and talents of their employees, instead keep them doing remedial work day after day; employees are treated like children; low pay; managers lack any vision, only concerned with day-to-day fire drills; big brother feeling in office, you are always being watched and gossiped by peers, very punitive culture.
