STARS is an excellent company
Pros
I have worked for STARS for 10 years. I have considered other positions with other companies, but the salary and benefits (and fun!) have not compared to what STARS offers. The perks are many! My continuing education funds have covered my travel to and attendance at multiple ASHA conventions over the years. My CCCs, state license, and other fees are reimbursed. They offer interesting and valuable continuing education opportunities a few times per year. STARS is responsive to my needs as an SLP; I have been sent new test kits, updated iPads, and specific treatment materials when requested. Overall, I have been very happy with my choice in working for STARS!
Cons
-STARS is a contracting company. Specific placements are not guaranteed; however, STARS goes out of their way to make sure that a new placement is secured. I have worked in multiple districts, but I have never had to leave an assignment mid-year. -Because STARS is a for-profit company, the years worked do not count toward Public Service Loan forgiveness.
