Pros

Hours are ok, gives you a decent work life balance. Pay is pretty decent because you're working 12 hr shifts so you're getting overtime everyday.

Cons

Management sits in a conference room and makes decisions with no idea what's going on. Treat employees like they're a burden and management should be thanked for the privilege of being allowed to work there. They're really serious about safety... unless it's their fault, then it's not an issue. They will find an excuse to fire anyone that has an accident, but they will also install lights on the pallet jacks that prevent you from using the brakes and think that's ok. Definition of a dead end job.

Toxic Culture and Environment.

Pros

They do a really good job of selling themselves in the interview. Compensation and benefits are good, however depending on the department you're you will be miserable or somewhat miserable.

Cons

Toxic culture! Be prepared to be set up for failure from day 1. Playing politics is the norm and if you not like it or play into it you will fall into the black sheep clique. Heavily micromanaged to the point where someone is literally looking over your shoulder. This has created a petty good dog bad dog work environment. You will be bullied, belittled, and told your incompetent. Other employees have said "I didn't think I would survive but you'll get used to it, this is just how it is". Certain leaders in VHP microbiology will be nice to your face but around upper management will make you seem incompetent. If you are not liked, you will be told half and or misleading information to make you look inept. In others words, they will build a case against you to get rid of you if you don't beat them to it. Getting on the good side involves brown nosing and telling on other employees. Employees are fake and genuinely miserable except for a few good ones that try to do the right thing. HR is for the companies best interest so do not even bother standing up for yourself as its your word against management. Management has been around 15+ years so it's they're way or the highway. Petty culture and favoritism is abound. You will be told your sweater is not part of the dress code but other direct reports can wear hoodies. The manager's pet will go behind your back and say things the manager wants to hear to make themselves look good. This is a large company but I have heard similar stories from former and current employees. Best to stay away.

Pros

At a time when I needed a job Steris hired me and I will always be thankful for that. I worked for Steris for almost 10 years and for the most part it was an enjoyable experience, the benefits were good and management was very flexible in helping me attain my bacholors degree. Who knows maybe one day I'll return.

Cons

Working at Steris can be difficult for minorities but the company is trying to change the culture but it will take some time. The pay could be better and the raises are low but I was comfortable and the work was very stable. I decided to move on after I felt the economy had stabilized after the recession.
