Pros

Lots of opportunities to grow professionally. There always some new initiatives for people to get involve with. I started my career in Higher Education here and do not regret a second of my experience. Definitely one of the best Universities to work for in New York State.

Cons

People that have been there for decades and stuck in their ways, Hard to change the culture.

Pros

Benefits and salary are good. 80% of the students are great and a some are really exceptional and wonderful to know and work with.

Cons

While there are a lot of brilliant people in academia, not many are suited to administration. They seem to spend a lot of time trying to ambush each other.

Busy, busy place to work. You'll never get tired of seeing different people or different things. Great if you like that.

Cons

Like I said, very busy. If you're not into that, you might have a hard time adjusting and getting used to the pressure.
