Pros

Amazon and Overstock experience Free fruit

Cons

“Big account” experience is great for your resume but what you have to put up with to be on those teams isn’t worth it. Being singled out as a woman on the team by being told to “cover your ears” so your manager can make an inappropriate joke on an introductory phone call meeting fellow account members is sexual harassment. This should not be tolerated and at any other company would lead to dismissal. Also constantly hearing things like “I don’t mean to be sexist but...” is not acceptable. The type of behavior that is allowed here is absolutely disgusting and reflects poorly on the family who owns the company.

Pros

They will hire recent graduates, which is a good way to get started in a corporate environment with little experience

Cons

One anecdote that I think really sums up what it's like working at Safavieh is the fact that because one of the owner's daughters does not like the smell of citrus, no one at the company is allowed to even bring an orange into the building. That really sets the tone for what you can expect there. Unless you are the child of one of the owners, no one will respect you, no one will look out for you, no one will ever offer you a promotion above whatever underpaid entry level position you were hired at. You will be stuck working for over-privileged, under-educated brats for the rest of your time here no matter how good you are. Many of the team managers feel the sting of having to suck up to these children immensely and it has turned many of them into the worst kind of bitter, mean, toxic bosses anyone could ever hope to encounter. Casual sexual harassment, blatant favoritism and full-on bullying of certain employees is typical fare here, particularly on the team that manages the largest accounts for the company. You're expected to work long hours in a windowless office while one of the owner's kids paces up and down the hallway waiting to catch you doing anything other than slaving away at your desk. The owners have told their children explicitly not to get too friendly with any of us commonfolk. They strive to prevent employees from becoming too friendly with each other. It was not uncommon to hear many of my coworkers talk about how much their mental health suffered while working at Safavieh. This explains the INSANELY high turnover rate; if your choice is to work at this factory of misery for an offensively low pay check or preserve your mental health, it's a pretty easy choice. There is no future here for anyone who's last name is not the same as the CEO's, and considering the work ethic and abilities of the next generation, Safavieh is not going to be around for much longer. Avoid at all costs.

Pros

The only pros I can think of is the exposure to working on high growth big-name accounts and an okay work life balance.

Cons

It does not takes a genius to see that Safavieh's Glassdoor page is being flooded with 5-star reviews around the same time period because management wants to hide the truth about what is going on at this company and boost its overall rating. This company has a lot of potential given its power in the industry but be warned that "family-owned" means no upward mobility if you're not part of the family. You will be treated like you're dispensable so much so that there are stories about how there were people who asked for raises but were let go instead. The family aka management only cares about their bottom line. The pay is below industry average with little to no negotiation that doesn't even keep up with the rate of inflation. There was also a brief time when they banned people from listening to music and using earbuds, claiming it was a distraction to the employee using it. Due to uproar, they uplifted this ban and has allowed it again as long as it was "used appropriately." This is just one example of the archaic feudal-serf dynamic that operates at this company. This company calls itself "a high tech corporation." There's nothing high-tech about this place. The internet is blocked except the sites that you need for your job. You can't even check the weather if you wanted to. The internal system looks like it was made in the 90s and breaks down often. When it breaks down, it affects all its operations globally. How this huge flaw in its business doesn't scare management to revamping its system is shocking. I don't even want to get into this company's lack of concern for their employees during this ongoing COVID crisis. You can read the other reviews on Glassdoor about it.
