Pros
Very friendly and supportive work environment, I love the people I work with. Routine - based (a con for some) meaning it is fairly easy to get the hang of. At first, a little stressful but mastery comes soon after until it requires little concious thought. Convenient scheduling; when I need a day off, it is granted without issue. Scheduled hours of work never conflict with my daily plans. FRONT END managers are all very nice, patient and ready to lend a hand when needed without complaint. Easy dress code Somewhat decent discounts Large range of departments
Cons
Inconsistent scheduling and/or not enough hours. At one point I was getting less than 10 a week. Inconsistency doesnt allow me many "good" weeks in a row, but rather usually a "good week" (20-30hrs) followed by a "bad week" (usually closer to 10hrs) Poor communication among upper level management. There is almost a culture of not being mis-informed or late-informed; managers will often instruct you to carry out a task but all tell you different ways to do it which leads to frustration and confusion. Managers will make comments about what you are doing without actually knowing what you are doing; some just seem detached from their employees but none are bad or mean people. Angry irrational customers (this is inevitable in retail, especially a grocery store)
