      Pros

      They do actually have decent benefits once you work there long enough,that is really about it

      Cons

      Nobody cares about you, you are left to fend for yourself out there. The only way to get ahead is if you kiss a lot of behind,and I mean a LOT of behind. There is no such thing as having your hard work pay off over there.

      Pros

      Some nice co-workers/managers and customers.

      Cons

      Every week the hours change - no set schedule. Too much gossip going on. If there is a problem (union involved) it takes 3 or more months to get it looked into/solved. If they do not like you - they will do all they can to get rid of you - especially those under the old contract. Expect a lot - give little!

      There is a nice gym for employees and their spouses.

      Cons

      I have never been in a company that had so many layers of VP's. It is beyond ridiculous. For a company that is embedded in the Bay Area, their management style is so un-dynamic and so un-progressive. The "old" mentality of "do as I say, not as I do" is alive and well here. They don't retain talent here because they harbor a sense of mediocrity. It's unfortunate, because I actually enjoy shopping at Safeway, it's just the management level that is failing deeply.
