Pros

The company has the people that can do a great job but they are not allowed too.

Cons

Not willing to think outside the box. Upper management wants to cookie cutter every store not indualize each one to the stores location.

Pros

Easy to get hired on. Fair amount of advancement opportunities. Work with quality people. Union benefits.

Cons

Safeway actively seeks the termination of old contract (well paid) employees at the corporate level. Offers less pay (minimum wage) to new employees than Wal-Mart. Unrealistically high service standards. Forces employees to work drastically varying hours (often with only 8 hours between shifts). Offers only 20 hours per week on average, yet expects to be your first priority. Company profits increase while employee wages, benefits, and morale decrease. Salary employees are expected to work abnormally high hours (often 6+ days per week).
