Pros

Union benefits, fun group of people to work with, challenging and engaging

Cons

Staff is very undervalued by management at corporate, the expectation for department managers are steep and unrealistic, there’s no reasonable expectation of work life balance, always getting calls and texts about work off the clock even though I’m an hourly employee, and they keep cutting hours and cutting hours. It’s like they think because we get the union benefits they can treat us like garbage and not pay more than minimum wage. The pay scale is grossly out of whack, the courtesy clerks top it at almost $6 more than the department managers for less than half the work. If you’re a department manager you catch it from all sides and there’s no mercy from upper management or customers. The only reason they get three stars for compensation and benefits is because the union does provide pretty good benefits.
