Pros

You are unwilling or unable to think for yourself and prefer when someone else does your thinking for you. Kudos to Safeway for it's Diversity Initiative. Now they have a multi-gender, multi-cultural group of clones in local store management. Paint the puppets any color you wish, they're still puppets.

Cons

Arrogance of upper management towards new thoughts or ideas. The shareholder is king, the customer is an afterthought.

Pros

The health benifits are good.

Cons

There are no good reason I could think of to work at Safeway Corporate in Pleasanton, CA. The top management such as the "Senior VP" of a certain division, has no respect for his female employees, you have to get his coffee every morning and put it on his desk along with his morning paper. I have seen him with his shoes off and feet on his desk drinking coffee and reading the paper! If you don't respect him, your out of a job or HR is called in to remote your reputation as an employee. Is this the kind of Management we want in our working environment who make 6 figures a year! I would not recommend working for Safeway Corp. in Pleasanton, CA.

Pros

1. I enjoy my coworkers

Cons

1. Corporate doesn't stay away, they change everything every single time they come in, they complain about every little thing & change things that aren't broken, causing more stress & problems for employees. 2. They stalk your every move at work, you always feel like you're being watched 3. They don't care if you do a good job, but if you step a single sliver into even a potential mistake, you bet they will lose it over it. 4. They overwork you constantly, run you into the ground & complain about you 5. Upper management has often been blatantly disrespectful, negligent & have violated so many laws, yet they don't care & the union won't help you either because they say Safeway never loses so its not worth it. 6. They do everything in their power to not accommodate disabled employees 7. They'll threaten to fire you, even when you're laying in a hospital bed in the ER. It's their go to line. 8. They promote people who shouldn't be promoted, only to continue walking all over lower rank employees. 9. Terrible communication between management and staff. 10. If you request a raise they won't give it to you, even if it's a 1000% valid and warranted. 11. Overall they treat you badly, don't communicate with you, then blame you if you weren't aware of something new. Corporate sticks their head where it doesn't belong only to wind up making your job even harder, continuously violating every law in the book. I don't recommend. It took me 5 years to get to the wage I am at today. Most people in my position start at 16 to 17. And no matter what you're paid it isn't worth it.
