Pros

Honestly, the only nice thing I have to say about my expeirance working for safeway was that there was this employee that no matter how bad your day was, he would always say something sweet enough to make you smile. I believe that was his mission. Thank you W!

Cons

In the short amount of time that I worked for this company, I learned how NOT to treat people. I am very disappointed at the professionalism, or lack there of, towards the Safeway workers (NOT management). Firing someone while on an approved Safeway medical leave is a good recipe for a lawsuit. Telling your employee that you have no sympathy for them when they are trying to take a quick break due to overwhelming pain is quite inappropriate to say the least. Safeway's policy says in so many words that harassment is not tolerated and is grounds for termination. If this is true, then why are there so many employees being let go, though the managers are not being reprimanded for their treatment towards their employees? Also, being written up for something that is not your fault, and then being fired 3 days after filing a rebuttal is quite suspicious. Did I I mention that my hours were being taken away from me and given to someone from another department? These are just a few things I experienced working for Safeway.

Pros

I got to move around the store and work outside.

Cons

Management put me in the check stand but only paid me my courtesy clerk wage. That is illegal. They got away with it any way because there was no proof that I was on the clock as a checker. The union did not back me up. The union told me to write down my time spent in the check stand. That proof meant nothing and I still did not get paid checker wages.
