Pros

You can train in multiple departments of the store for variety and increased hours.

Cons

I've been working for 2.5 years and still make minimum wage because I've been waiting for the union contract to renew. I have had several scheduled wage increases that have not appeared on my paycheck because minimum wage increased above several years' worth of wage increases. All that to say, you get raises in tiny incremental amounts. If minimum wage increases with the cost of living as it should, you will still be making minimum wage for years. Also, they will do their very best to schedule you with less than 20 hours per week so that you will not qualify for health insurance. The more employees they have working without health insurance, the better they sit financially.
