Pros

Pay was not bad, although losing the extra money for working during COVID was insulting.

Cons

The mgt. does not care if you are harassed, bullied or intimidated by other employees. My mgrs, response to actually witnessing it was " There is nothing I can do about it". And to add to the fun, I offered to transfer to another store and she ruined it by saying I abandoned my job. My transfer was settled in April, moved 300 miles in May ( at a cost of $3, 000 for move, new rental, etc.) and arrive to find I was unemployed.

Pros

Weekly Pay Check Union (If they respond to your calls) Holiday Pay

Cons

- Value Customer reviews over anything else (Even if the customer is making things up and name dropping employees just to harass) - Overwork their staff - Scheduling is not flexible, do even think about asking for time off, or be prepared to work 10 days back to back to get them. - Lets customer harras employees with no repercussion and making work environment hostile - Management is condescending and if you call in sick they will belittle you and make you pay for it later - Many employees have had to go on stress leave because of the hostile environment and stress of having to overwork and barely get paid - Race seems to have a factor in how they treat you, customer or employee

Pros

Good benefits Paid Vacation Sick Pay on your first missed day

Cons

- Most of the managers are terrible - Top managers will almost always take the side of the department managers - This was a good job to have at one point, but the union has slacked massively on getting us more benefits - You get paid holiday's but what Safeway will do is cut your hours so that you don't get to benefits from that holiday pay. - Usually short-staffed because they want to cut hours so they run on a skeleton crew so that the Store Manager can bonus - Related to short-staffed - they make you feel as though you need to do the job of 2 + people so that they can get more work out of you than is reasonable - Barrier to entry to this job is so low, so you're not really working with quality people (not trying to be rude) - They give you JUST enough to survive on and it makes it hard to leave and get another job
