Good Pay but Lack of Career Growth in Data and Engineering

Pros

Pay in data and analytics tends to be higher than the market average. Many people here have a genuine sense of job security.

Cons

Everything moves really slowly. A lot more is said than done: a steady stream of reports describing how milestones are (almost) achieved and everything keeps approaching resounding success at an incredible pace instead of actual results. Incompetent managers are common. They enjoy regular promotions and substantial bonuses. Dead-end jobs for people in data and engineering. The highest they might get over the years is a Principal Something, e.g. Principal Data Engineer or Principal Data Scientist, which is just another kind of Individual Contributor. Promotions from that to any roles in Management never happened.

Pros

Training period was adequate and salary is good for entry level role.

Cons

Misleading about actual job role in interview, lied about sales responsibilities being present in role when I was told they would not be, zero flexibility and support from managers. Not a place I would recommend working.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We're disappointed to hear that you felt led astray in your interview. If you were comfortable shedding more light on this including what role you were in, that would be very helpful information for us. To do this please email colleague.engagement@sage.com. As far as flexibility goes, we have a hybrid working framework and a 10-week Work Away program that we'd have hoped you'd be able to fully enjoy. We'll be looking into your concerns very closely as you'd need your managers to support you to feel empowered to take advantage of the complete colleague experience. We wish you the best in your career moving forward!
