      Becoming a dictatorship

      Pros

      Immediate engineering team was strong, smart with passionate people. Technology stacks are reasonable modern in pockets.

      Cons

      Sage lacks coherent product strategy. Senior leadership seems to flip directions every quarter, which results in our roadmap being pulled, reworked or cancelled frequently. Culture change felt reactive rather than strategic. Lots of references to how Microsoft operated from 10 years ago from ex Microsoft colleagues in management. Seems like the Sage vision was just management trying to recreate Microsoft here. Mandatory office attendance (3 days/week) enforced even if nearest office is a long commute and impractical.

      The company has very strong products and is customer focused Lots of great people- smart, collaborative, and want to do great work Opportunities to advance, work across geographies and travel

      Things can move slower than other software companies UK headquarters means some early morning conference calls

      Sage has been one of the most positive work environments I've experienced in my career. What stands out most is that the values here are not just words on a wall; people genuinely embody them in how they show up, collaborate and support one another. There is a strong sense of purpose, transparency and mutual respect across teams, and leadership models the culture in meaningful ways. You truly feel part of a company that cares about doing the right thing for colleagues, customers and community.

      Because the organization is evolving quickly, priorities can shift and require teams to adapt at a fast pace.
