Pros

Decent benefits to start with particularly for graduates, and the option of an office workspace if you prefer working onsite.

Cons

Where do we even begin? From an engineering standpoint, Sage offers some of the lowest compensation in the industry. Despite the challenges in retaining software engineers in today’s market, Sage is indifferent and often responds to criticism with a dismissive, “You can leave if you want to.” Over the years, Sage has gained a reputation for pushing back on employees who raise grievances, especially in cases involving discrimination. Their tactic often involves pressuring people out of the company through loyal “yes-men,” while offering empty promises of support. It's a hostile environment masked by corporate platitudes. Their latest debacle involves forcing employees back into the office three days a week, despite hiring some under the pretense of a remote work arrangement. They were careful not to explicitly state “remote” in contracts but gave assurances during the hiring process. Is Sage unaware of the abundance of remote engineering roles now available? Or is this just another way to nudge people out? Perhaps they’re hoping employees will quit rather than become eligible for redundancy packages? And then there’s HR. The official response to concerns about the forced return to office and the sudden reduction of benefits (such as cutting a 10% discount) is as cold as it gets: “If you can’t adapt to the changes, maybe Sage isn’t the place for you.” Where is the empathy? Where is the care and concern Sage claims to have for its employees? It’s becoming painfully clear that employees are seen as disposable, no matter how much they preach otherwise.

Thank you for your review. We’ve read your comments and are disappointed that your experience at Sage has not been satisfactory. Please note that we have a zero-tolerance policy regarding discrimination, so we highly encourage you to share your concerns about this with a member of our ER team. Regarding flexible working, our hybrid working approach is an important element of the way we work at Sage that is complemented by other benefits such as paid time to volunteer, the ability to work away for up to 10 weeks a year and free well-being support tools. Pros

Colleagues and teams are supportive and collaborative when given the right environment. Benefits package is competitive, and the company’s foundation work is commendable.

Cons

Employee feedback, especially around long commutes and hybrid flexibility, is ignored, leading to a culture of mistrust. The rigid three-day minimum in-office rule disregards those who work better from home, reducing overall productivity and satisfaction. Disciplinary threats for non-compliance with in-office attendance further create a negative and fear-driven culture. Morale has plummeted due to recent news of the office closure, with many employees feeling undervalued and disregarded.

We appreciate your feedback and have read through your comments. Please note that our hybrid working approach is an important element of the way we work at Sage that is complemented by other benefits such as paid time to volunteer, the ability to work away for up to 10 weeks a year and free well-being support tools. We recently also answered several colleagues' questions about the new 3-day policy. If you've not already seen this communication on our internal intranet site, we encourage you to when you can. It sheds more light on how colleagues will be supported as they adhere to our updated hybrid structure. More information about what we offer can be found here https://www.glassdoor.co.uk/Benefits/Sage-United-Kingdom-Benefits-EI_IE1150.0,4_IL.5,19_IN2.htm - Thanks for taking the time to leave your review. Too many layers of management Abit disorganised and having to can projects a few years down the line due to underestimation. Expected to do unpaid overtime even when you have other commitments.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We've noted your concerns which shall be factored into our continuous improvement plans; sorry you had a disappointing experience at Sage. As part of our Simplification plan, we're revising our management structures to streamline operations and facilitate better workflow processes. This work spreads across to prioritisation of objectives which, given how rapidly the world of work and business changes, are expected to change from time to time to suit, That being said, we know there's lots of room for improvement and shall keep our eyes fixated on the ball as a result. Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback; we wish you the best in the next chapter of your career!
