Pros

Good money for people without a college degree. Also has great job security! This company does a great job with rewarding their employees for their hard work. Also they are very safety conscious. Which is also great, because not only are you safe at the work place but at home as well.

Cons

No matter how great you are at your job, If you aren't a favorite of your superiors, you are looked down upon.

Pros

Big company that may potentially hold intracompany opportunities

Cons

Poor pay and dysfunctional management. The HR strategy needs to be questioned since decisions are all based on the opinions of bachelor level HR Managers/Directors. Huge focus on the placement of women in Management positions and longtime secure career forecasting for those from selected universities. The power of decision making is non-exisitant since everything needs to go to Paris for approval. Bonuses are not based on performance (as it is communicated) rather than what has been budgeted. French people will always be the priority, everyone else is a second class citizen. This is a huge barrier to career development when French Expats are always showing up out of nowhere and taking mid-upper management positions.

Saint-Gobain Response

Thank you very much for sharing your feedback with us. It appears you did not have a good experience with Saint-Gobain, which is a shame. Majority of our employees have 30-40 years with the Company in Northboro but I do understand it may not be for everyone. I know that when we hire we bring in the best qualified person for the role, regardless of national origin and other EEO protected classifications. Bonuses are based on individual achievement to stretch goals and the business performance which is known by everyone in the Center. Again, I am sorry you feel it was budget based. My last comment I would like to make is how we value our employees. We appreciate all who have decided to make Saint-Gobain their employer of choice and we are honored to have such a great employee population! Without the people on our team, we would not be successful.

Pros

Good pay relative to the jobs available in the area.

Cons

Upper management is at odds with the hourly workers on the floor. The company is constantly moving to cut costs and make improvements in efficiency and productivity, but will choose and implement actions and policies that dont accomplish these objectives. The workers themselves dont really care about the job, they work there because its pays and dont commit tot eh company, like fast food workers. Unlike fastfood, the products made are high cost and quality to be used by places like NASA, Harley Davidson, etc. Combine this with VPs who push production numbers at any cost, you have a place that is terrible to work at.
