When it comes to the AMER Recruitment org specifically, there is a lot left to be desired. Opportunities for professional growth and career advancement are quite limited, with minimal transparency around promotions. Advancement often feels more influenced by similarity bias, favoritism, or internal politics rather than performance and holisitic contribution. Additionally, while Salesforce emphasizes its commitment to equality, diversity within recruiting teams and its leadership remains noticeably lacking outside of one designated Talent Partners group. In recent years, there have been efforts to improve process consistency and reduce operational disorganization. However, the overall team culture can feel competitive and siloed, driven in part by a constant sense of uncertainty. Layoffs have become a recurring event, and unfortunately, when they do occur, they're often not performance-based and are handled in a way that feels impersonal and abrupt — with access being shut off suddenly, followed by a generic mass email and no personal outreach from managers or leadership. Although layoff packages are generous, this almost heartless approach has understandably left many long-tenured employees questioning the authenticity of the company’s values and leadership upon exit. Finally, in comparison to other similar software companies, salaries within the recruiting function are a lot less competitive. While Salesforce can be a rewarding place to work in many respects, those considering roles in the recruiting org should weigh these dynamics carefully — especially if long-term career development and strong/inclusive leadership are key priorities.
