Pros

-- Great benefits -- Financially healthy company (balance sheet and income statement) -- Talented and intelligent people -- Opportunities to direct your career -- Opportunities to connect with colleagues and build communities

Cons

-- Leaders/managers and internal orgs failing to march toward a common vision and strategy, often executing in their own direction/interests rather than collaborating to win together. -- Poor ethics in senior management who unnecessarily laid off 10K people in 2023 (only to hire some back months later), and the workforce reductions were poorly implemented/communicated. -- Too many layers of power-driven (versus the "empower others" mindset) middle management with their own political interests. -- Lack of internal trust across orgs/teams, despite the company claim/value that "trust matters" (i.e., active managerial resistance protecting political interests at the expense of what's best for the company; often not able to gain access to information to do my job). -- Hypocrisy to claim "diversity" is a value when most of those staff were the first to be laid off; hypocrisy to claim "trust" is a value with so much internal conflict and lack of effective strategic collaboration; hypocrisy to claim "employees/people" are valued when -- despite a healthy financial position -- you lay off thousands of people to temporarily appease activist billionaire hedge funds/investors who don't give a about Salesforce (or any other) employees/people.

Pros

Great company to have on your resume. Culture seemed solid in 2021 and prior.

Cons

My manager from 2022-2023 was an ego maniac with an inferiority complex. I watched her degrade and tear down every person on our team and systematically terminate all but 2. She would create false narratives about her staff and sadly her boss believes she’s telling the truth. She has no desire to mentor or coach. Her boss actually told me 6 months ago that she was “done with me”. She would intentionally never give me public praise and only give criticism. It was the most toxic manager I’ve had in my 25 years of employment. When I attempted to report this, employee success said to talk to my manager directly and that they don’t take this kind of feedback. For 2 years I worked 50+ hours to keep up but was told I wasn’t allowed to work more than 43-45 a week. I asked our team how they were keeping up and everyone said they just accept they won’t get paid for their time. Management would regularly deny or say not to ask for a single day off, even if we had PTO available. They have been firing so many people, support internally and externally is declining so cases are regularly closed without resolution. unlike every other company, when you get fired, you are not given any paperwork, or way to audit your commissions or paycheck - or use your remaining benefits because HR is not willing to assist with those things. They do not do exit interviews and do not care that the culture within management is to lie and manipulate to get to the top. Salesforce is the gown up version of Mean Girls. I saw her retaliate against anyone who questioned or complained about her treatment.

Pros

Decent pay and benefits, some interesting products, looks good on your resume.

Cons

Executive leadeship has a vision and stated values that don't necessarily trickle down to the rank and file. Favoritism, backstabbing, biases, and politicking typical of any large corporation in rampant. If you're lucky, you'll have a good manager or be your manager's favorite. If that is the case, you might be very happy here. Work-life balance doesn't exist and there are constant changes of direction. My best advice: Don't let it take over your life with happy hours and "ohana" talk. Work SMART, learn everything you can, network, build your brand, watch your back, and get out at the 3 year mark.

Thank you for your feedback and thank you for your many years here with the business. Transparency is very important to us so if you feel like you're losing track of the team or company vision, I'd encourage you to have a chat with your manager or to examine how your V2MOM roles up to the Corporate V2MOM. If you don't feel comfortable doing so, I'd suggest you reach out to your Employee Success Business Partner to further discusss some of the cons you've listed in your review or, if you prefer, you can provide more details anonymously by contacting our third party provider Ethicspoint at http://www.salesforce.ethicspoint.com/. Doing so will help us work to directly address the concerns you raise in your review.
