Pros

Knowledgeable faculty that provide good feedback when you can get their attention.

Cons

Dissertation Chairs providing almost zero support during the dissertation phase of the program, despite the fact that you have to remain registered as a student and pay for a 3-hour dissertation course until you complete. Constant hounding to get faculty to review materials or provide direction. Constantly changing their mind about how and when they review your stuff. I felt alone. I think my chair was sexist against women and looked down on folks that work at a community college. No organization in the dissertation phase of the program. No support, rude, and condescending faculty. Choose your dissertation chair wisely. Interview other students about their experience with dissertation chairs.
