Pros

Wellness program and benefits, can't think of more than that

Cons

Low pay in comparison to other state jobs, ridiculous fee for staff parking when you have to fight for a parking spot you leave for lunch you're pravtically parking a mile just to find a parking spot when you return

Pros

We have a flexible schedule that allows us to work in between classes and we can usually trade hours if something comes up during the week. Also, we don't have to work on the weekends which is nice. Depending on the department you work for you may have time to do your homework or talk with coworkers.

Cons

We start off making minimum wage and raises are very small. Various departments do not allow students to work on homework, require a larger workload, and have particular dress codes. It really just depends where on campus you work.

Wonderful Regional University, Just the Right Size

Pros

I've worked at larger universities in several states. SHSU is just the right size with a good sized student population, stable finances, and a forward looking leadership that isn't afraid to try new things. Benefits are substantial and there is opportunity for career growth if you move among departments. If you are looking to further your education, there are course credit benefits for full time employees. There is an honest focus on doing what is best for students, which is rewarding and motivational for staff in all areas.

Cons

Huntsville is a small town and somewhat rural. Many employees choose to commute in from more desirable Conroe or the Woodlands.
