Pros

The College of CJ is one of the nation's best! I really enjoyed the experience while teaching various courses there.

Cons

The town is a little bit small but it has nothing to do with the univeristy or administration of course. You can drive down to Woodlands or Houston for shopping and social activities.

Good experience working for a higher education instituation

Pros

Good way to gain experience. Managing a large number and variety of equipment is good especially for those seeking entry level positions in a particular field. Benefits are worth taking a look at too.

Cons

Pay is not the best. Chances of getting a raise next to nil without thinking of switching positions/departments. There will come a time when you will come across the people you would rather not talk to.

Great place to start a career in higher education

Pros

Certain positions within the university allow individuals to work closely with the student body which is why I entered a career in higher education. The work/life balance is good and often times supervisors will allow employees to take coursework during the lunch hour if they are completing a bachelors degree or seeking a graduate level degree. On the whole, the staff is friendly. The university has implemented a new professional development series for faculty/staff which is a great opportunity to learn from internal and external professionals.

Cons

As with most employment in education, the pay is low. Several nearby universities pay at a much higher rate. Unfortunately, the ability for advancement is low as well. With the area community and campus culture, many employees stay for the remainder of their career, resulting in low turnover and the inability for entry-level and mid-management to move up.
