It is an organization which presents itself as lateral but, in reality, is very much top down. Lots of talk about “share your ideas openly” but then you better share them with only your direct supervisor or you’ll get in trouble . They think of themselves (or pretend to be ) open-minded, nimble, creative, equitable. Actually, it is an arts organization run like a corporate business with the appearance of innovation and inclusion. The top leaders don’t like to be challenged. And they shut down anybody who will oppose them. They’ll do it using all the proper words and under the guise of gratitude but they don’t like it…possibly even resent it. One of the Managing Directors is retaliatory, unless you are their “friend”.
