Pros

Very pleasant team and leadership to work with. Sense of purpose working on sequestration.

Cons

Location is abysmal, especially in the summer. Culture is very reactionary, it bleeds a little into the workplace, coworkers were extremely surprised at elements of culture that weren't average rural white Americans. Standard National lab bureaucracy, but that's easy enough to deal with.

Great Work, Horrible Management

Pros

Sandia is an amazing institution whose management seems determined to get in line staff’s way. I’ve never had so many smart and motivated people around me, not such interesting problems, though.

Cons

Tendency towards bureaucratic labyrinths that don’t actually solve problems, and hero worship allows power the centralize in people whose social and technical skills have long since atrophied.
