If you always wanted to live and work in Siberia, this is the place for you. You will be "outstanding in your field...of wheat".

Cons

Racism, prejudice, hatred of educated people from other states.

Pros

You get paid. Work environment can be good if your boss doesn't micromanage.

Cons

Low pay. Health insurance too expensive (considering that insurance premiums go into Sanford provider network, they do not leave Sanford money system). Bad corporate culture. Regular employees are expendable, skills and experience have no value; voicing concerns does no good, you're told to "go work at Avera". Supervisors/managers have no decision power; most things are decided at a director level and above. And yet, no one at the top level takes any responsibility for the disarray they create. There's no accountability (how many in leadership got fired over the "mistake" that cost $20 million?) Ever since money started falling from the sky (thanks Denny), leadership's modus operandi is to protect each other and enjoy healthy compensation packages. It's a club of untouchables who can do no wrong. So, departments are mismanaged, employees are stressed out, overworked and underpaid, turnover is very high, skilled employees leave (wonder why you see so many young faces?) and patient care is at its worst (just ask around). If Sanford were a regular, for-profit business, it'd be bankrupt by now.
