      Pros

      Genzyme used to reward its employees for both performance and loyalty. The people were encouraged to be creative, innovative and entrepreneurial. Leadership under Sanofi has had a huge negative effect on these values, and instead focuses on process and rigidity.

      Cons

      Genzyme is no longer loyal or friendly to its employees, holding them to Draconian noncompete and non disclosure agreements, and suing anyone who dares to leave to pursue other opportunities. No other Cambridge-based biotech company enforces these agreements with so much aggression.

      Pros

      I believe in what the company stands for.

      Cons

      The Allston Facility has had the life sucked out of it due to lack of proper leadership. Senior "leaders" are tucked away in their exclusive club, planning how to reduce headcount over the next few years,while doing a horrible job of communicating the reality of the future. They plan to consolidate the organization's structure, leading to reduced opportunities for advancement, and ultimately leading to good people wanting to leave. The engagement level at the company is terrible right now, despite a "dedicated team" trying to fix it.

      Pros

      Good vacation but you can't take it because of all the fire drills. No work life balance.

      Cons

      If you are part of "yes" crowd and good old boys network , you will be promoted. If you have been with the company for a long time, you are targeted for termination. HR is not your friend but they certainly know how to cover up discrimination cases. They bring over French employees and make the american employees train them before terminating the American employee. The French employees live high on the hog and contribute nothing.
