Pros
Get paid a decent salary with almost no accountability to show results for your work as long as you are busy and doing what you are told. A lot of good people trying their best to block and tackle the constant strategy changes. Everything goes through the owner so at least you know who is calling the shots. Some good ideas exist that could win if the right people were empowered to go after it and really meet the market need.
Cons
Not customer centric. Trying to force fit half baked solutions into the market without any real intelligence of what the market wants. No incentives for employees who are delivering results. Bonuses and raises have been halted, company cannot pay its debts to suppliers who are abandoning them. Feckless “leadership” blindly following the whims of the next six month plan from the owner aimed to wow investors and cash in. Family and friends who are wholly unqualified in experience and pedigree for the jobs and titles they have. “Executives” that don’t understand how to read a basic P&L or cash flow statement. VPs who are not and never have been empowered or accountable to set a strategy or make decisions. Owner has track record of buying businesses and running them into the ground.
