Pros

Good training. Nice people. Good dispatch.

Cons

Mileage pay sucks because you can't get mileage. Short runs with loading and unloading always ends up with low miles at the end of the week. ETA's were sometimes a later time than appointment time.

Thanks for the review and valuable feedback. It's nice to hear you enjoyed our training, people and dispatch. Due to the nature of trucking, you're bound to get some short runs, but if it continues to persist, we want you to get with your DBL to see what's going on. It's our goal for drivers to maximize their miles and earning potential.

Pros

Getting home for family emergencies

Cons

When I first started here I needed a job to support my family and had wrestled with having to be away from my family every week when they needed me at home so badly. I started at this company trying to be extremely positive but today that positivity as just gone right downhill. Now that I have been here for quite some time this is what I have to say about it... With 20 yrs experience you would think I'd be paid better than I am. I'm paid like a rookie and treated as such. More than half the time if I send a message on the Qualcomm I don't get a response. Today, when I call in about issues or concerns I am talked to calmly and politically correctly but I am actually being patronized and told to suck it up this is my job; and then nothing is resolved. My first DBL didn't treat me this way and was actually very helpful and tried to solve a lot of problems for me and listen to my concerns. There is a lack of concern about the drivers needs. Company is not driver friendly; from mgmt to their trucks. (But I will say one positive thing about this, when I needed to get home for family emergencies they sure made sure I got there within 24 hours!) If you like big brother hanging all over your shoulder watching every little tiny move you do then by all means come to this company. Their trucks are so full of the latest technology that you are watched like a hawk and all of that technology actually makes a driver complacent instead of better. And if you're high strung it stresses you out to the max! But as it is with most large companies their trucks are not driver friendly when it comes to comfort for air in the summer or heat in the winter. Plus there's hardly any time at home; only 34 hours a week (and I have a little one at home) so there's absolutely no quality time with my family; and that's IF I make it home every week. All of their benefits are way too expensive especially if you have a family. The money I shelled out just to pay to have the insurance for 1 year doesn't even come close to the deductibles that I've had to pay once I've used it. It's one of the worst benefits packages I've ever seen in this industry. For an experienced driver such as I am this company is way too stressful for me and I have difficulty doing my job the way I need to and still be paid enough to support my family without having the need of an emotional and mental breakdown! I guess I've said enough!

Pros

The orientation in SLC was top of the line. Informative, thorough, and helpful. Ray, Ricardo, and Kay are wonderful individuals. They will get you started in the right direction.

Cons

Dirty trucks, low driving miles available (don’t get put in the PHOENIX operating center...YUCK), Schneider won’t pay you your bonuses without a fight, more rude snobs to work with than professionals, no driver luxuries on the trucks (the worst I’ve ever driven), forced dispatach, truck service only after 75,000 mikes/B service (that is your only free truck wash as well, you pay for any others), all incentive bonuses ie fueling, mpg, idle, days worked...all ONE bonus so if you screw up in one area you lose it all. Also, IDLE...good luck in the winter! It must be below 20 degrees before your truck will idle. There isn’t an override.
