Pros

Co workers, mission, and summers off.

Cons

In May we were surprised to find out we had a new compensation plan, it was a pay cut. The even more surprising item was to return from summer leave, work a month, receive our commission reports and realize we were being paid 4-5 weeks later than usual. All of this with the rationalization that we wanted this. Company surveys were very low, so this was the answer. We would be compensated for increased business. This is based on an increase over what number they decide is our goal. When asked, we were told the compensation plan is not finalized and we cannot receive a copy.

Pros

Great people, a real opportunity to learn if you are just starting out.

Cons

Although a great place to work early in your career, the salary I felt was lower than usual. But it may have changed since then.

Pros

Admirable company mission of getting books into the hands of kids. Decent hours, Decent benefits. Unique perks.

Cons

"Good Old Boy" network. Tenure has to do with who you know and kiss up to, not what you know. Outdated technology. Unrealistic goals. Management says we are making money yet the rank and file employees get only a 1%-2% raise, if any. Trying to save money by outsourcing or using contract labor.
