Not the same company

Pros

Work from home is a benefit

Cons

Not the same company as when Mr. Robinson was at the helm. No investment in employees, pay is subpar, gaslighted by management and increasing workload annually with pay raises that don’t pace inflation and unattainable goals for bonuses. Meanwhile, the president of book fairs pulling in $1M/year and management getting promotions and I’m sure substantial pay increases. No one is sacrificing for the mission except the lowest paid employees.

Pros

Time off, flexibility and benefits are the ONLY pros. I have only worked in corporate America and this BY FAR the absolute worst, unmotivating company. You have us working on 2 desk tops like it’s 1997. Can’t even sit outside to work on a laptop bc we don’t get them.

Cons

Everything. Unsure how this place has lasted this long. Management is ancient, does nothing to keep up with the times or keep up with statistics in the industry. The only thing they do is listen to every call and micro manage. They won’t help you because they are too busy listening to your calls. Sales goals are NOT attainable. They increase yearly and take more away from the clients, who are all going to competitors. There is NO growth- absolute lies if they tell you otherwise. People are here 15+ years with full regret of never leaving and being in the same position bc it’s the only option. No bonus unless the ENTIRE company makes their numbers, which they won’t because it’s impossible based on lies to investors. Please keep looking, do not listen to their lies to get you to work here. RUN.

Just Say No! It's not worth it!

Pros

The benefits are great and generous time off.

Cons

Literally everything else. Unrealistic goals, priorities shift weekly, severely micromanaged (they listen to your calls, they're all recorded), you get written up for things not in the job description and KPIs (which legally they cannot do), company cannot deliver on product, consultants get the blame for the loss in revenue even though half the register don't work, you have to lie to the customers, it is a company culture to lead by fear and intimidation, the managers are incompetent and lack emotional intelligence. I loved the job when I started, but now we're made out to be nothing more than a call center and forced to sound like sleazy car salesmen. For a company that claims to "get more books into the hands of kids," they're only trying to get more money into the shareholders pockets. Scholastic has abandoned their mission and the librarians who work for free for them. Don't waste your time, you won't make the amount of money they claim you will, bonuses are a joke....I made more as a teacher than what I did working for Scholastic.
