Thanks for taking the time to review. We are very happy to hear you enjoyed the flexibility that being a medical scribe can offer! Depending on the area you work in, we always recommend working with your direct supervisor to determine if you are able to be cross-trained in a different specialty of medicine, or at another facility, so that you are always seeing unique cases and continuing to grow in your role.

Pros

Great clinical exposure if you are interested in becoming a doctor and you're desperate for hours.

Cons

Incredibly disorganized. They told me to put in my two week notice at my prior job and then things changed last minute and they put me on a waitlist for training so I had no income for 2 months. You will be trained by different trainers pretty much every day and they will all give you different feedback that conflicts with how the other trainer taught you. They initially told me I would be required to work 2 times per week and had to give them availbility for 1 overnight shifts which then became working 3 minimum days per week and I had to over them 3 days that I would be available to work overnight. They told me that it was just to offer them availability for flexibility in scheduling and that it did not mean I would work those nights, which was another lie! I got scheduled for so many overnight shifts and then they would give me a morning shift the next day with barely any time to sleep in between! Also during training I was told multiple times to not take lunch breaks and that legally we could take breaks but that they would not advise them because then I would have a lot more work coming back from breaks. The pay was horrible with no benefits. You're also an at-will hire and they will test you every month for around 4 months and if you do not perform well on that 8 hour shift they will fire you!

Thank you for taking the time to leave us this review. This is why being a medical scribe is such a great experience as you really do get to see firsthand how medicine functions, which is something you really can’t get from other jobs or volunteer work. We truly value that this is a great opportunity for those looking to further education by going to Medical School/PA School/etc. For any topics you may have, we would love to hear from you. Please reach out to us at HR@scribeamerica.com so that we can discuss.
