      Good experience, low pay

      Pros

      +Good experience for Pre-Med students or students of that sort +You will know after a few months if health care is for you or not +Can receive letters of recommendation from physicians +Paid online training prior to start date (see cons) +Online scheduling and tax forms makes it easy to check paper work and pay stubs +Given plenty of time with trainer, and can schedule more shifts with trainer if you’re still struggling

      Cons

      -Working for physicians can be difficult I.e. they can be very particular -Frequent turn over of Scribes -You don’t actually interact with patients, you just watch physicians do their clinic work -Low pay, I started at $9.50/hr and was raised to $10/hr after 3 months -Received online training prior to starting but it was not useful once I began the job because I did not work in that speciality (and I have heard that from many other scribes) -Starting job took 3 months in between hire date and start date -Long hours of standing -Given one pair of scrubs, the rest you are expected to purchase with your own money -Very little communication with direct and indirect supervisors, it took me months to figure out the hierarchy of things -Poor communication from management to employees when transition from Elite Medical Scribes to Scribe America was occurring

      Great Set up for future med students

      Pros

      Seriously some of the best practice you will ever get in getting used to medical terminology and unique aspects to a physicians job.

      Cons

      Crappy pay sometimes and long hours if you work a physicians schedule. No decent benefits like health insurance besides the high deductible set up.
