Pros

- Invaluable firsthand experience working side by side with physicians and learning their thought process as they treat patients - flexibility and basically building your own schedule - lots of sites and specialties to choose from, as well as sites all over the country for people that want to try living somewhere new - lots of opportunities for advancement if you want more responsibility and more pay. - great leadership and a culture that cares about employees

Cons

Hard work and long hours! But if you find that hard work and long hours aren't for you, this is a great opportunity to discover that now and seek out a new career path before spending a fortune on med school.

Pros

I learn soooo much on the job and this opportunity has affirmed me that this is something I would like to do in the future (as far as pursuing more schooling). Every day is new, the people are great. I see how everyone works in tandem for one purpose and it makes me really happy to be apart of it. I think Scribe America is the best company to work for because I have not encountered any problems with management so far (because they leave me alone). I've been reading reviews for all the other companies and this seems like it's a huge issue in most scribe companies. Some might want more interactions but to each their own. I'd rather just do my job and not worry about people over my shoulder. Their online training was honestly awesome, but not very applicable to what I was doing. I'd prefer having hands-on experience first (because the online training was more of an overview and not site specific ). After that, I wouldn't mind the online training afterward (to help with a better understanding). When you get to the site, you better hope you have a good trainer. You are only as good as the trainer. There are opportunities for advancement, but it depends on location. Pray you get a good location (outpatient care is fantastic). At the end of the day, it's a job (and a great stepping stone). There are opportunities for advancement should that interest you. It goes like: Scribe --> Chief Scribe --> Junior Project Leader --> Upper Managment (don't quote me). I just wish that the entry wage was proportional to the work completed. There is wage increase, but don't be fooled. It will come after 1 year of work.

Cons

In the eyes of the people: - Long Hours. - Long commutes (possibly). - No breaks (very, very true, bring a lunch or something). - So much to learn on-site (but you will get good very quickly, don't worry). Those factors honestly don't bother me as much. None of these matters more to me than the low wage. This is not exclusive to just Scribe America, but to all scribe companies. The low wage is absolutely disgraceful. Paying college-educated individuals near minimum wage is inherently evil. Scribe America does the best by providing opportunities to make more (raises, promotions), but the raise comes after 1 year. Promotions (depending on location) could come much later. If you are a higher-up reading this, you should be ashamed. You fat cats at the top can afford to miss a few rounds of golf on the weekend. I'm not asking for $20 or even $15, but 10-12 should be a fair entry wage.

Pros

Pre-medicine opportunity. Paid shadowing of physicians. Learn different diagnosis, treatments, medications, and learn to read labs. I get to observe the roles of different health professions.

Cons

Management team is unorganized. Training was longer than what was expressed at interview. Not given full-time hours as a full-time employee due to Physician's schedule. No competitive pay, so you're not paid what you're truly worth to these physicians.
