Pros

Gain first-hand experience on proper charting and how to obtain and document proper physical assessments. This skill would be beneficial for anyone going into Medicine/Nursing. Allows you to see the routine of a physician's day/work load (from the sidelines not shadowing). If you enjoy keeping to yourself at all times and find fast paced work with very little reward or recognition personally satisfying then this job is for you!

Cons

Rigorous training process, and stressful workload (heavy patient loads, expectations of maximum spelling and charting accuracy with limited time to complete tasks) with little to no reimbursement (pay) ($8.00-$9.30 hourly). Pay does NOT reflect the level of meticulous work expected of the employee. Non-hands on. You are expected to only be seen not heard (these were words from management. Not physicians or nurses; who were very warm and inviting and enjoyed teaching when they could). Company seems to be managed/supervised directly by many younger adults (25 and under) who have been working with the company for a short amount of time (some managing/supervising with only 6 months of experience).. While this could be a pro for some looking to climb the corporate ladder fast, it reflects poorly on the professionalism of this company and affects employee satisfaction greatly. The communication, leadership, and managerial skills are directly affected by the low standards held on those holding management/administration positions. This position is not for someone who seeks true medical experience/shadowing, hands-on learning, patient and co-worker interaction, or employee satisfaction as a long term position. Many medical students become scribes to gain experience and letters of recommendation. However; I feel volunteer and shadowing work or even obtaining Medical Assistant/Nurse Aide positions provides much more medical experience, learning opportunities and letters of recommendation all while making very decent money doing so.
