Pros

Workin along side physicians and in the medical environment getting exposure and relatable experience for those pursuing medicine

Cons

Where do I begin.... Unprofessional, abusive, power-tripping management. These are some words to describe the horrible experience I had with working for this company. Being hired was a pleasant experience but i was completely unprepared for the horrendous abuse that followed during training. Students were belittled, and publicly humiliated for wrong answers. The training is intense, and for the minimum wage that they offer, we were expected to have the knowledge of a 4th year medical student. We were told that we were expected to work through our breaks in the ER, and the last time I checked this is illegal. Perfection was expected in the most unreasonable way, answering a question wrong or not answering fast enough meant that you were subjected to criticism far beyond necessary. Their motto was "we need to make them suffer" this was mistakingly left on a projector during the training sessions and was not meant to be seen by trainees. Training is inadequate, half of the students quit prior to even working in the ER because of how demeaning, rude, and disrespectful the "chief scribes" were. I believed that this was a great opportunity, however during training I left because I could not stand being in a toxic environment which belittled my credentials that are far more superior to those that were training me. Abusive environment!! There are far better ways of gaining patient care experience. Medical training is meant to be an environment that embraces the opportunity to learn and help people, however Scribe America is the antithesis of what the medical field encompasses.

Pros

Great Experience. You get to learn a lot from the doctors and can easily get a letter of reference for medical school.

Cons

Be prepared to work some night and weekend shifts. Pay is not the greatest.
