Pros

Immense medical knowledge and leadership skills

Cons

Low pay, poor management, no office to meet, no office to work, only met boss in person less than 7 times, constantly being contacted by scribes but not paid at all hours that you’re practically on call, low pay, low pay, some months you make half of what you make another month, make sure you have someone to back you up when you can’t make your rent, angry doctors, overworked scribes, no lunch breaks, did I say no lunch breaks? Yep

Pros

Being a medical scribe overall was a good learning experience. The providers I worked with were nice but I have heard of more difficult providers with more strict chart requirements. You will learn basic clinic flow, common drugs, and common diseases and how to treat them since you'll see some of the same things every day

Cons

Low pay Training was okay. They kinda just through you in after the classroom training but the only way to get better at it is through experience Some days will be harder than others since the clinic can get back up and run very late

Pros

You have the opportunity to work alongside the physician, seeing the entire patient course of care from the first examination to disposition. This allows you to learn about the patient, and then see how the physician takes the information received to create a care plan.

Cons

The main downside, and the reason most scribes end up leaving, is the financial side. For the amount of time and energy that the scribe places into patient care (from the medical documentation side), many of us are faced with the challenge of not being payed nearly enough for the work being done.
