Pros

Working with the ER staff is interesting and challenging.

Cons

I have worked for Scribe America for more than six months. In that time, I have made multiple requests and attempts to be paid the back wages that are owed to me. Scribe America’s corporate management team is a group bunch of rip-off artists. They make their money by cheating their scribes out of their wages. Do yourself a favor and go work for a company that cares about its employees and pays them what they are owed!!

Pros

- Work from home - Company provided laptop and monitor - Most scribes are really nice - Can be chill, depending on which doctor you work with

Cons

- Management is terrible, unless you get lucky in your placement, super corporate, total lack of empathy, robotic, no leadership skills - The company lies to you during the interview about whether the job is full/part time and what duties you will most often be responsible for - The schedule is never correct, and the use of two different scheduling apps (Workday & Humanity) makes it difficult to understand, take time off, etc. - If a doctor complains, they put the blame on you, not on themselves - Lack of communication - No room for growth - they string you along, interview you for promotions, talk about new opportunities, but it is just a carrot at the end of a stick - There is bonus pay for admin duties, but if you need hours it's easier for them to just have you scribe, so that is what you will do 100% of the time - You are stuck wherever they want to place you - If you are unhappy, good luck trying to get anyone's attention, they will just look for reasons to fire you - Management does not look for good fit and common interests when placing scribes with providers, they only go by availability - 50/50 chance that you will like any given provider - The equipment they send you is basic and cheap

Pros

The only Pros are getting the experience and working through providers who may/may not like you.

Cons

First off it takes ages to get employed at this company. For me it took probably five months until I got employed. Then the wait gets longer, you will wait for a few weeks for the credentialing and then they will place into a Program 5/6 courses and then a final examination. Once that’s done which will all that process takes 8 months all together. Obviously, and pre-med or pre anything doesn’t have the luxury to wait that long, and would have to commit to a job that will pay 11$. In those 8 months good luck paying your bills because you are not working. Then I start working and making this job my top priority, and had to drop a class for it. That was my dedication, and what I got in return is firing through email. Not a great way to balance work/school, and would give you night shifts without second thoughts. A wasted time of 9 months of commitment, not much money paid at all, and showing no integrity to fire someone through email. If I was you I would call this company off limits, unless you don’t value your time and want to waste a year for nothing.
