Good experience, poor mid-level and senior management
Pros
A lot of valuable and widely applicable experience to be gained from this position. Docs were usually super nice. Company offers (or at least did pre-COVID) training and decent (but expensive for minimum-wage) benefits. Would recommend for people still in school. If using this as a full-time job, would recommend having supplementary income.
Cons
The doctors didn't know how much their scribes got paid. It was a shock to them to find out we made minimum wage. Doctors were expected to provide computers for the scribes with their own money. Higher-ups of the company mismanaged their scribes during COVID. They forced sites to take so many displaced scribes that existing employees had hours slashed in half. Also forced an on-call system without compensation.
