Pay scale is ridiculous for the area, and there is no room for upward mobility

Pros

Stable employment, have been here for 15 years. The benefits outside of the salary are good. 401(k), and yearly profit sharing, if company meets it's operating budget.

Cons

Part of that "operating budget" is to keep the cost of employment down. The way they do that is keeping wages lower than competitors. Seabird does not pay as good as many of the companies in the area, and certainly does not pay enough to live in Bellevue or the surrounding areas. Many of the employees commute from Everett or Kent. Another really positive benefit, has been flexibility. Seabird is *very* lenient with CAL time and start/leave times. (within reason)

Pros

Was a great company, made good products. Many outstanding employees throughout the company. Historical products are well designed and excellent when made properly.

Cons

Treats employees poorly: low salaries, verbal abuse, forced overtime, no respect for employees. Since the purchase of Sea-Bird by Danaher the management has been changed to inexperienced, poor managers who have no experience in the industry, poor decision making abilities and much more interest in the bottom line than in the customer. When found that 60% of the employees would leave if they were offered another job management response was that the employees could leave if they didn't like it.
