      Generally good company, but a lot of bad apples

      Pros

      * Variety of useful benefits that go beyond simple health insurance and 401k match * Relaxed work culture that promotes healthy work/life balance * Lots of experienced people who are willing to share their knowledge * It's possible to move within the company and explore different roles

      Cons

      * Core benefits are simply average * Monetary compensation is below average * Virtually impossible to be promoted without changing teams * Management and teams are hugely variable--some managers care about their team members and their professional development, others will leave all actual management duties to their direct reports * While *most* coworkers are knowledgeable and hardworking, a significant portion cannot be relied upon

      Pros

      I have an awesome manager who really cares about developing his team. My team is high performing and collaborative. The campus has great amenities, it is a very comfortable place to work. Great work/life balance. Hard Drives are an interesting product in a fascinating industry, and it's exciting right now because we have the best technology and the best products.

      Cons

      Seems like enjoyment at Seagate is contingent on which manager you have.
