NOT WHAT I EXPECTED!

Pros

The job was challenging. I was forced out of my comfort zone completely. I grew more in the 5 months that I worked at Sector 7 Energy than the 9 years that I have spent working elsewhere. I learned more about business there than the 4.5 years I spent in college. I loved working with everyone there. Even the people who have just started a month before me were trying to help me with paperwork and understanding how to do the job. Super supportive team leaders, too. I have never had a manager pull me aside and ask me how I'm doing. I enjoyed working here.

Cons

The job was hard. It is really about your mindset. If you tend you compare yourself to others in a negative way, you won't make it. I did that. I looked at some of the other people who started at the same time I did and compared myself. A few picked up their first clients during the on field training and 2 of them actually had their first close the next week. I didn't pick up a client until my first week out of training. Then the next group came in and two people closed out a 4 digit commission deal. I have been here over a month and all of my deals combined was less than their one deal. I was used to being great at everything I did. It just got emotionally drained and had to leave.

Pros

The people are friendly, and willing to help, but they almost have to be because the turnover rate is so high.

Cons

1. Door to door sales- people will yell at you everyday, get frustrated with you, and kick you out. You must be a pushy person to make any money at this job. 2. No benefits, no gas help, 100% commission 3. They told me my first month I would make 2-4 grand minimum if I was average and 5-6 after that, which is not even close to the truth and that has nothing to do with ability or work ethic. If you’re okay with door to door sales and you’re okay with all these things you might be able to make some money but nothing close to what they advertise. 4. I trained with 16 people, by the time I left there were only about 4 left. Turnover rate is extremely high. I asked about turnover rate in the interview and they blew me off saying “ every job has some turnover.” 5. A lot of the companies you go to the deals are not worth anything but a couple hundred dollars, if that. You have to make your money by getting a massive company and the odds of not getting kicked out of one of those are very slim. 6. They do not describe to you what the job is before you start, which is why so many people quit. 7. They try to target young people, ambitious, and fresh out of college, and entice them that if they just work hard they will make tons of money.... I wrote this so you wouldn’t make the same mistake me and most of the people I was with did.

Pros

Workplace environment, values, and the principles S7 stand for. The training, people, and the office are all great. There are small incentives for you to do well.

Cons

Be very cautious when taking this position, if you need money. You will only get paid once a month meaning, you will not get paid until 2 months AFTER starting your position. YOU WILL NOT GET PAID FOR TRAINING. You ONLY get paid by commission, meaning you will be going door to door asking business owners if they want energy. IF YOU MAKE A SALE AND LEAVE THE COMPANY you will only get paid RESIDUALLY meaning, you will only get paid little by little once the contract you made starts. You will drive all day, using your own money for gas.
