Pros

On campus cafeteria - breakfast and lunch with a discount.

Cons

Old school systems, lack of transparency, lack of leadership training, quite a bit of micromanaging. I thought the average tenure was a plus, when it turns out to be a bit of a negative. Associates who have worked here 15+ years are resistant to change and really do not know what else is out there - they think the benefits are superb, when they are sub par. Policies are inconsistent within business units.

Pros

Strong culture and solid professionals with financially sound practices to ensure the ability to honor their policy holders!

Cons

Slow to change. Tenure honored more vs. talent! Investment division has weak leadership and has not kept up with market opportunities.

Pros

In my opinion, the PTO is quite generous. I think the benefits (health, medical, dental) are comparable to anyone else in the marketplace. The values of the company are strong and prevalent in everything they do. The dedication to community is amazing. There are so many opportunities to volunteer without having to take any time off work. Most managers are really flexible with work hours and time off. The company is successful because they are conservative. I actually like the fact that the company isn't as large as the other two big competitors - the office is much more welcoming because we know each other. The security guards are the best! They know everyone by name! The location of the office is fantastic - you can grab lunch at any of the hundreds of restaurants in downtown, sip coffee at the hipster coffee shops, and get fine chocolates all without leaving the skyway! You can workout over lunch at the fitness center in the 400 building, or head over to the YMCA just a block away. The parking options are many - the heated parking ramp has a lower rate than anything comparable in downtown. There is a second parking ramp, there are rideshare options, there are about three surface lots to choose from - all at whatever price range works for your budget!

Cons

The pay is definitely lower than competitors, but it's important to remember that this is a small company. As several other have noted, the turnover rate isn't high in the middle positions because no one leaves (which is a pro - it proves they are a great company to work for). It is hard to be successful as someone coming in at a young age if you aren't hired as part of the management training program. These individuals tend to be hand-selected for certain positions, which makes it hard to get ahead when you aren't part of the program. There is a definite need to reassess the technology in place.
